About Me

Welcome to my blog!!  For those of you who know me, I have finally gotten around to what my husband has been telling me to do for years and will now be posting my kitchen creations online regularly for all of you to see.  For those of you who do not know me, welcome to my kitchen and my health centered world!

For a little background, I am a 36 year old mother of two (twelve year old son and seven year old daughter) who lives in the Pocono region of Pennsylvania.  Ever since I was a child I have loved cooking and especially baking, and thanks to a very talented mother, I learned early on how to do both those things very well.  As I have gotten older and become the main cook in my own home, I have found the kitchen to be my sanctuary, the place where I feel like I can do anything and change the way my family thinks and feels about the food we eat.  As the old saying goes “you are what you eat” and when you think about that regularly, it can seriously impact what you decide to put into your mouth.  Now don’t go getting scared that all my food is tasteless “health food”…. Far from it.  I believe in eating “real” food: stuff that grows in the ground, some animal protein, and very little that comes in a package or is processed in a plant. Which basically means I have to spend a lot of time in my own kitchen “processing” my own food.

I believe in eating well, which means treating yourself at times, and there are definitely occasions when I disregard all my nutrition info and make brownies the old fashioned way with white flour, sugar and lots of butter, but I also have learned how to make them a dozen different ways with all sorts of other ingredients, increasing the nutritional benefits each time.  I like to think of my passion for cooking and baking as a collaboration of two of my longtime interests: art and scientific experimentation.  And now my love of writing can play a part as well as I share this adventure with you.
